When the motor brakes, the braking resistor acts as a generator, releasing an excess of current that it returns to the DC bus.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>Cause 1<\/u><\/strong> &#8211; <strong>the dissipating current is greater<\/strong> than the resistance capacity, causing it to fail.<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Cause 2<\/u><\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Premature ageing<\/strong>. If the resistance receives excess current, in a short time we can age it or wear it out before its time.<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Cause 3<\/u><\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Defective equipment<\/strong>.
